Our Mission

Unika Alexander is a licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist with a master’s degree in Biomedical Science.

With 16 years of experience in laboratory operations, quality management and regulatory compliance, Unika has led laboratory buildouts, operational expansion, regulatory readiness initiatives, quality system implementation, test validations, R&D, and laboratory-developed test (LDT) programs.

‍

Recognizing the need to alleviate administrative burden and facilitate communication and collaboration among lab teams—particularly in multi-site labs—Unika created The Proficient Lab platform. This interoperable, centralized hub maintains a single source of truth, helping leaders achieve visibility and standardization across their labs while enabling team collaboration and reducing administrative burden for all.

Unika is passionate about advancing the laboratory profession and the thoughtful adoption of technology that delivers measurable value to laboratory teams and the patients they serve.

Stas brings 19+ years of deep expertise in software architecture and government-regulated environments, specializing in transforming fragmented, manual processes into structured, automated workflows.

Instrumental in the development of The Proficient Lab platform from its inception, Stas has shaped its technology architecture and capabilities. He drives the development of scalable, interoperable infrastructure that brings training, quality, and compliance systems together in an AI-ready ecosystem, with a focus on data integrity, auditability, and usability across laboratory sites and organizations.

Combining technical rigor with practical design, Stas is passionate about developing intelligent, integrated technology that helps laboratories reduce risk, make better-informed decisions, and maintain compliance.

Stas holds a BS in Computer Science from Wentworth Institute of Technology.
